Texas Penal Code § 37.08 specifies it is a Class B Misdemeanor to file a FALSE POLICE REPORT
This application is to enable citizens to easily report non-emergency incidents which have occurred in Grand Prairie. This method of reporting should not be used if anyone was injured as a result of the incidents, or if an Officer should be sent to the crime location.
Please dial 9-1-1 if you have an emergency or need to report a crime that is in-progress.
You may submit an online crime report for the following types of crimes if they are not in-progress or you DO NOT know the person who committed the crime:
Forgery/Fraud
Harassing Phone Calls or TXT
Retail Thefts
Thefts under $2,500.00
Vandalisms under $2,500.00
Lost Property
The following should NOT be reported online:
Incidents that are in progress or just occurred
Any type of traffic crash
Incidents where there is physical injury to any person
Incidents where there is a threat of imminent danger or injury
Incidents where physical evidence or property will need to be recovered from the scene
Incidents where there are suspects and/or witnesses to be interviewed
Burglary of Motor Vehicle
Theft of Automobile or Firearm
Incidents where there is a weapon involved
Identity Theft
You should call 9-1-1 for emergencies or call 972 237-8700 or 972 237-8790 for non-emergencies
You will be emailed confirmation the report was received with the online tracking number which articulates what you just reported upon completion of your entry.
